Catch Up

I am very pleased with myself this year as I have kept up with both my embellished BOM and the ANG stitch of the month, still have to do December but not sure if I wish to use the final month or do something different.

Christmas is coming and my house is still like a building site as my DH has now tiled our fireplace and hearth.  This weekend when he is back from a business trip we will start on hardwood floors in the family room.  Hopefully this will be done before Christmas so I can tidy up a bit.

Penguin to finish and then the name band and ye Amanda will get her secret stocking this year.

It is a good thing I used to be a needlepoint finisher otherwise that would be it for this year.

ANG stitch of the month done thru Nov, I have ended up taking out the outline threads.

Now how to finish this up as I'm not liking the final month.

Festival of flowers the final block.  Tried a new to me stitch around the leaves called a scroll stitch.

The pistal stitches are because Fiona thought it needed a little something.

All this means that my next post should have a few finished projects.  Wouldn't that be nice?

June ANG Stitch of the Month

Well last month I wasn't sure about my colour choices.  Now I like them again.

For an ex math teacher I'm ashamed to admit that I had to rip out a few times due to bad counting.
Liking how there is now some symmetry of colour.  Really intrigued to find out how the focus over dye is used.

May and the attack of the brights

I found the instructions on this one a bit confusing but after looking closely at the original picture I got there.

The pictures don't show the true brightness of my colours and the effect of the silk.

Beginning to wonder if this is all going to work out in a pleasing manner.  I will continue as each month takes a very short time to complete.  That and the fact that my orange fan thinks it is wonderful.

April Stitch of the Month (SOM)

Well this one took a bit more doing, after several attempts of following the chart which for some reason had an uneven grid I ended up working it out myself.

Really pleased that I choose the black canvas with the amount that is left showing.

I can also begin to see how the colours are going to be balanced across this piece.

Do I have to use a title?

 March done in timely fashion.

First attempt I should have looked at the colour picture as I alternated the colour of each wedge.

Rippit, rippit.

I wanted bright and it is certainly heading in that direction.

SOM 2010 Progress in a blizzard!

Well as I said I have ben working on my ANG stitch of the month from last year now into October.  I am not allowing myself to start this years yet although I purchased the Evertite bars today (threads purchased last month).

Hopefully I'll be able to add to it tomorrow if I'm not sholving snow and improving our two snow forts.

I am finding it easier to couch the diamond before doing the hearts inside as is suggested in the instructions.

Catch up

Well it didn't take long to catch up with the ANG Stitch of the month as both April and May were very quick.

March ANG SOM

Well here is the lastest. First I must admit that I made a mistake in February by putting in extra eyelets in each square. My MIL spotted this so now the back of my work looks like a rats nest.

This month I chose to make the triple cross a bit more delicate by only using one of Kreinik in the step.
Now back onto Twister for a while.

ANG SOM - Feb

Progressing nicely with the ANG stitch of the Month (SOM). This was my first time using Silk Lame Braid, have to say it is very enjoyable to use a metallic that is easy to use and gives just a touch of glitter.
So now it is back to my Millenium x-stitch (it must be love as this is for my husband).
Also now waiting for the arrival of a Bailey 15 quilting machine. I have assembled my original Grace quilting frame with an upgrade for mid arms and also today made up the new carriage for my Bess 15 (yes I named her, this is normally for members of the Bailey Yahoo group). I thought a regal name (after Good Queen Bess/Elizabeth I) as she will have a throne and carriage.
By now you may have gathered that I enjoy many different art forms.

ANG SOM - January

Okay folks I followed the instructions and marked my canvas using #4 pencil. Never again, the pencil transfered itself onto my Vineyard silk. I have now used a water soluable marker (for quilting) and started again. If the markings show I will take a fine paint brush to remove the marker after I've finished stitching.
